So, bit of an unusual post here.
I received a brush set off my mum, who to be fair wouldn't know real MAC from fake, so this is in no way meant to be a 'pissed off' post as such (not that my mam knows what a blog is haha)

Anyway, lets look at a few of the pictures. I'm basing my opinions on these as brushes, whether or not they have MAC written on them.

To be honest, the quality does vary. The foundation brush seems to work excellently, but then what is supposed to be the 168 brush is scratchy as hell. The 150 seems to be an exact match for the e.l.f Studio Powder Blush too. The lip brush is also very good.

I have the original 239 brush to compare with the one in this set, and the difference is obvious. Again, it's scratchy and doesn't pack very well.

Now I also had a "MAC" mascara - I'm almost 100% it's not real, will post pictures to see what you guys all think. The only collection it looks like it could be from is the Baroque one that was out a few years ago, but I don't think so.

So what do you guys think? Are fake brushes just as bad as fake makeup?

  1. Thanks for sharing it. It sure seems fake but not that bad :)

  2. I think it's fake hun. Probably not as bad as fake makeup but again. The stuff they use to make the brushes are illegal so probably dangerous to use too. Perhaps not so much as the makeup though.

  3. @Meowcake yeah I know they definitely are, there's no doubt cos they came in cellophane packaging for a start. I'm only planning to use the foundation, powder and lip brush really.
